“15 minutes of fame” or the eternal search for luck by fame, success, money, physical appearance, even if it’s only for 15 minutes. Many young ‘superstars’ of the fifties took part in the Warhol myth and let themselves immortalize by him on canvas. That’s how Andy Warhol (1928-1987) himself became the star he always wanted to be: the most famous American pop artist of the 20th century. During a workshop at TABLOO, about ten course members searched for their own experience of the “15 minutes of Andy Warhol” by painting a portrait according to his style with vivid colours and black outlines. Some tried to imitate a typical ‘Warhol Serie’ of a daily object, because Andy liked repetition and mass production. He used the silkscreen technique for this, but these ‘superstars’ painted a personage by themselves with oil and acrylic.
