Workshops

TABLOO welcomes all drawing and painting lovers! Each course is organized in series of 6 lessons. There are also children's workshops during the school holidays. We work in small groups, so it’s necessary to sign up in advance. Are you interested? Then send an e-mail to info@tabloo.be or call the number 0032 (0)16/20 55 29. (only during the opening times of the shop)

If you want to learn how to draw and paint, this course helps you to know the basic principles in a simple way. The first 3 lessons will be concentrated on drawing: object, face and body. During the last 3 sessions, you will make a painting in oil colours based on the age-old glaze technique in 2 layers. In this way you will end the course with your first completed masterpiece! These workshops can be continued by another drawing course if you want to have more exercise in drawing or by a basic painting course if you rather want to develop your painting skills.

For all those who want to learn how to paint with oil colours. You will learn the basic principles of this ancient medium by first sketching and then painting a simple object/still life to perception, by paying attention to the creative and personal interpretation of the background. Other topics such as portrait, landscape, animal,… are covered in a subsequent series. These workshops can also be continued by an advanced course in which we will paint more intensively according to different styles of several famous artists.

For kids who for once want to be a real artist. Like the great masters, they first make a design sketch based on the specific workshop theme. After a break with drink and snack they paint their design in colorful acrylic paint on a canvas or on an object. At the end of the session, they go home with their own work of art.

Exhibitions

TABLOO not only offers materials to draw and paint, but you can also watch creative work of other artists there. TABLOO’s own small gallery wants to be a little artistic paradise for all art lovers and a place where art is always present. Would you also like to exhibit your work at TABLOO? Then mail to info@tabloo.be or call number 016/20 55 29 for more information.

After having finished her secundary art studies in Leuven, Femke Pues (°1990) from Bertem ended up in the care sector, and in the care for her children. Through a painting contest of Royal Talens Amsterdam in 2020, the desire to create came up in her again. In the meantime, her own Instagram page ‘Pues Art’ provides positive responses from family, friends and colleagues.

Kris Neyt (°1957) from Assenede is not the flamboyant type that calls himself an artist, according to him: “I did not choose the art, but the art has chosen me”. And so it comes that as a child he dreamed of making art. He always drew wherever he could, to the annoyance of his parents who saw a different future for their son than the artist's existence. And so he chose the profession of teacher in mechanics and technical drawing, but he never stopped painting...

When Corina Karstenberg (°1967, Netherlands) exhibited at TABLOO for the first time four years ago, she could never have imagined that on her 55th her work would reach galleries in Venice, Rome and Florence. However, she also regularly returns to Leuven, where in the early years ’90 she learned to paint with oil “under the loving guidance of Pol Marien at the Leuven Academy of Art”, as she tells with a lot of appreciation. After her Belgian adventure as restorer of African art, she followed religion studies and then a master in cultural history at Radboud University in Nijmegen. These two subjects – religion and culture – she then incorporated into her portraits of people worldwide with symbols incorporated that often are related to their cultural and religious background and have influenced their life stories.
