In 2021 the Japanese brand SAKURA celebrates its 100th birthday! In honor of this anniversary year, the month of February at ROYAL TALENS is dedicated to Sakura with a special edition of the Pigma Micron sets: "Black & Gold Edition" (sets of 3 or 6 black fineliners in different thicknesses from 0.2 to 0.5mm).

The black and gold elements from these pens pay an homage to the Art Deco movement that took off simultaneously with the establishment of Sakura in 1921. Many original Sakura packagings from the early years were designed with iconic elements from that defining art movement. The name SAKURA refers to the beloved Japanese cherry blossom, a symbol of fragile beauty. The ultimate persuit of perfection and high quality has since been consistent in SAKURA’s colouring and drawing materials.

In addition, ROYAL TALENS organizes a creative competition in which you can participate monthly until the 31th of December 2021: Create a work of art with your favorite SAKURA products inspired by the iconic country of Japan and win a trip to Tokyo in 2022 or one of the three SAKURA prize packages. For more information about participation procedure and terms of action, please see this link.

For all your drawing and painting material

TABLOO welcomes all drawing and painting lovers, during this corona time with mouth masks! Each course is organized in series of 6 lessons. There are also children's workshops during the school holidays. We work in small groups, so it’s necessary to sign up previously. Are you interested? Then send an e-mail to info@tabloo.be or call the number 0032 (0)16/20 55 29. (only during the opening times of the shop)

This basic drawing course is meant for who wants to learn how to draw, or if you just want to refresh or improve your drawing skills. We focus on basic techniques for drawing an object, still life, hands, face, body, animal,... according to observation. We mostly use a graphite pencil. In a following series, the basic themes’s are repeated and deepened. In an advanced course, the observation drawing is extended by experimenting with other materials such as charcoal, pastel, colour pencils, watercolour pencils, Chinese ink,...

For all those who want to learn how to paint with oil colours. You will learn the basic principles of this ancient medium by first sketching and then painting a simple object/still life to perception, by paying attention to the creative and personal interpretation of the background. Other topics such as portrait, landscape, animal,… are covered in a subsequent series. These workshops can also be continued by an advanced course in which we will paint more intensively according to different styles of several famous artists.

For kids who for once want to be a real artist. Like the great masters, they first make a design sketch based on the specific workshop theme. After a break with drink and snack they paint their design in colorful acrylic paint on a canvas or on an object. At the end of the session, they go home with their own work of art.

TABLOO doesn’t only offer materials to draw and to paint, but you can also watch creative work of other artists there. TABLOO’s own small gallery wants to be a little artistic paradise for all art lovers and a place where art is always present. Would you also like to exhibit your work at TABLOO? Then mail to info@tabloo.be or call number 016/20 55 29 for more information.

After their first group exhibition in the local services center of the neighboring Ruelenspark in Heverlee, the most loyal students of TABLOO are glad to leave their work one more summer period long at this Leuven's newest art shop. Their Loving Vincent portraits in oil paint to pop art imitations of Lichtensteins Ben-Day dots give color and life to the 20th century master painters.

Dorien Van Gompel (°1985, Leuven) draws and paints since all her life. As a child she went to a youth atelier in Lubbeek. At her 15th she wanted to learn to paint with oil colours and joined the painting group “The Blind Wall” in Kortenberg. In 2012, her painting called 'Eyeliz' was selected by the Canvas Collection for an exhibition at BOZAR in Brussels. Since then, Dorien regularly participates in group exhibitions and Kunstroute-Leuven. She also makes drawings and (wall)paintings on commission. In 2013 she opened TABLOO, a shop for artists' supplies where she also gives workshops and where she exhibits work by other artists and course members in addition to her own work.

After four years, the African-inspired artist from Kessel-Lo, Jan Debeurme, fires bright colors again on TABLOO but this time in the form of his most new series of abstract figures which he painted during the spring 2020 lockdown. That’s why one of these works has the title "Confinement". The other ladies and gentlemen who are painted in acrylic look just as nice as their names sound: Coquette, Keire, Axelle, Starlet, Babe,… are among other exotic Spanish diva’s.
