For the summer season we let the sun come in TABLOO with an exhibition of five city views of Leuven from the Spanish watercolour artist Adrián Marmolejo (1989) from the southern Andalusia. He was there already part of a young painter’s group at the age of 16, won prices in several plain air contests and had his first solo exhibition in his birth place Málaga. Adrián is currently living and working in Leuven as recently graduated architect, where he combines his job with his artistic work. This Belgian influence goes back to his childhood when he started drawing and painting at the age of 7 as a pupil of the Belgian painter Annette Deletaille. She teached him the principles of perspective and composition, but also the spontaneity to paint directly from the evironment and to capture the mood of the moment. Adrián still applies this strong base in his detailed and well proportioned watercolour paintings, from whom he says by himself that ‘this technique takes the most out of his personality, because everything is visible and there is no comeback’. Adrián has also 3 years of experience as teacher of a course that explored fast drawing on location during his studies in Granada and he is part of the Andalusian watercolour Society.
