After four years, the African-inspired artist from Kessel-Lo, Jan Debeurme, fires bright colors again on TABLOO but this time in the form of his most new series of abstract figures which he painted during the spring 2020 lockdown. That’s why one of these works has the title "Confinement". The other ladies and gentlemen who are painted in acrylic look just as nice as their names sound: Coquette, Keire, Axelle, Starlet, Babe,… are among other exotic Spanish diva’s.
Since Jan (°1957) grew up in the former Belgian-Congo colony, his previous paintings with warm colors show the influences of his African-tinted youth. In that same atmosphere he also dares to make a sculpture now and then.
