“Two souls, one vision”

Ramya & Soumya Ravindranath are twin sisters from India weaving extremely meticulous pencil and painting art into a vivid tapestry of creativity. Ramya is since almost ten years living in Leuven and Soumya in Bengaluru.

Ramya has been a workshop student at TABLOO since 2017 and also had the opportunity to show her work at some locations in Belgium and the Netherlands.

From the earliest days of their childhood, both sisters were very creative and spending summers and weekends eagerly making things with their hands. While Ramya was the first to embrace her passion and become proficient with graphite and charcoal in (hyper)realistic portraiture and then in the rich and symbolic tradition of ancient Indian divine art, Soumya was attracted to landscape painting to capture the serenity, beauty and tranquility of nature and the enchanting reflections of water.

“Although we each followed our unique path and we continue to evolve personally as artists, we are united as two artistic souls in our shared love of art. We express this connection in the name “Kala Mithuna”, a platform where creativity, passion and connection come to life. It is the celebration of both our shared bond as siblings and our individual artistic expressions. From here we also want to reach fellow art lovers and inspire them to capture moments in the world around us and to see beauty in the ordinary.”

Their dream is to become a full-time artist someday and continue exploring different painting techniques. In October 2024, the sisters received overwhelming responses during their first solo exhibition at the Diwali festival conducted by Art India at the Atomium in Brussels, which attracted nearly 30,000 visitors.

“We are thankful to Dorien for this opportunity to display our art which is very close to our heart.”
