Sarah Cornelis was born in 1977 from two creative parents, from whom she got the knowledge, passion and perfectionism that she carries out in her self-employed job as a decoration and restoration painter in private residences, catering businesses, and other public spaces, as well as daily in her main job as an art teacher at the secondary school De Wijnpers in Leuven. When she was a young girl, she herself also followed academy and an art education at Sint-Josefscollege in Aarschot and continued with studies in designing interior and furniture at a high school in Mechelen. Finally she did a specialization at the Institut Supérieur de peinture Vander Kelen-Logélain in Brussels for painting trompe l’œils, marble and woodimitations and other painting techniques, whom she obtained a gold medal with in 2000 as being the only Belgian laureate.
Besides painting with oils on walls, columns, sculptures and chimneys, Sarah is painting more with acrylics on canvas since a few years, experimenting with mixed media and other materials. Since recent time, she organizes workshops for youngsters and adults in her relaxing and inspiring workplace called Atlier Artouché, which is situated in the rural area of Bertem where she lives and where she participated a few times at local exhibitions. The topics of her work are various – going from abstract to figurative – but colour and movement are always present resulting in a joyful reflection of her radiant personality.
